All papers are to be submitted using Easy Chair at CODS-COMAD 2019 Easy Chair

CoDS-COMAD 2019 will include an Industrial Track session which will cover the application of recent research advances to problems of real-world interest. The industry track of the conference aims to bring together leading industry and academia practitioners to share their insights, expertise and experiences related to deployments of solutions in industry and government that address real-world challenges and highlight new and important research directions.

Application domains of interest include, but are not limited to, education, transportation, energy, real-estate, manufacturing, finance, retail, healthcare, e-commerce, digital marketing, telecommunications, social media and computational advertising. Submissions are invited on work that highlight new challenges arising from the deployment of Data Science and Database technologies.

Submitted papers should present the problem, its significance to the application domain, design choices made towards the solution, the deployment challenges, and the lessons learned. Submissions to the general Research Track will be given the option of being considered as an Industry Track candidate. At least one of the authors needs to have a non-academic affiliation. Authors of accepted papers will have the opportunity to present their work in an oral session. Authors are encouraged to contact the track chairs (Nanda Kambhatla and Vishwa Vinay) if they need clarification regarding the fit of their work to the track.

The submissions are limited to a total of 6 pages, plus up to 1 additional page for references. The papers should be formatted in the standard ACM style available at the ACM Master Article Template. The submissions should be made via Easychair. The deadline for submissions is 15th August 2018, and the notificaations will be sent out by 15th November 2018.

The demo track provides a forum to researchers, developers, and technologists to present first-hand experience of software systems, prototypes, conceptual designs, libraries, etc., in an interactive setting.

The prospective submissions would have a novel solution to a problem exhibited either through prototypes or operational systems. Demos are invited for all domains of innovations: Data, Algorithms, and Applications. The entries for submission should consist of a short paper with a maximum of four pages, including references. The demonstration session provides a forum to researchers and developers to display their software systems, prototypes, conceptual designs, libraries, etc., in an interactive setting. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

- Data Science
- Machine Learning
- Artificial Intelligence
- Text analytics and NLP
- Computer Vision
- Information Retrieval
- Social Network Analysis
- Recommender Systems
- Online Advertising
- Psycholinguistics and Social Sciences
- Computational Neuroscience
- Systems Biology
- Multimedia processing
- Crowdsourcing
- Education
- Healthcare
- Robotics
- Technology for Emerging Markets
- Bioinformatics
- Digital Marketing

The submission must describe the technical innovation that has produced the demonstrated system. It must also include the specifications, literature references, and optionally a URL to screenshots or an online version. The submissions will be carefully reviewed by the Demonstration Program Committee and be selected based on various factors such as novelty, relevance to CODS-COMAD, potential impact, technical challenges being addressed, and practical applications

Best Demo: The most innovative and novel demos will receive awards (details to be announced soon)

The submissions should not exceed 4 pages including references and should be formatted in the standard ACM style available at the ACM Master Article Template . The submissions should be made via Easychair. The submission deadline is October 1st, 2018 and the notifications will be sent out by November 1st, 2018. Please contact Dr. Niyati Chhaya or Dr. Parth Gupta for further queries.

The publication of the demo in the proceedings in optional. Therefore, even if an author intends to publish their work somewhere else, they can demo their work in this session and opt out of the proceedings. Students will receive generous funding for attending the conference to showcase their demos.

The Young Researchers’ Symposium at CODS-COMAD 2019 invites submissions from students and postdoctoral fellows. This is a unique opportunity for young researchers to have fruitful peer-to-peer discussions and to get feedback from leading senior researchers about their current research work, including developing better understanding of the problems at hand, overarching principles and the limitations of current methods, and presenting new techniques and algorithm.
Submissions to the Young Researchers’ Symposium (YRS) are invited on all topics of interest to the CODS-COMAD 2019 conference, as stated here. Submissions to the YRS should satisfy the following criteria:

  • - The first author of any submission should be a full-time undergraduate / postgraduate / PhD student, or a Postdoctoral researcher having completed his / her PhD not earlier than 2016, affiliated with any academic institution.
  • - The submission should describe your current research including motivation, key related works, methodology, initial results, future plans and specific issues that you intend to discuss at the symposium.
  • - We welcome many kinds of papers, such as, but not limited to: novel research papers, work-in-progress papers, appraisal papers of existing methods and tools (e.g., lessons learned).

Submissions will be evaluated based on clarity of the research proposal, significance of the research work, and relevance to the data science community.

Authors of accepted papers will get a chance to present their work both as a poster and a short oral presentation at the symposium. The proceedings will be published in ACM Digital Library. Additionally, authors of accepted papers will have the choice to opt their paper out of the conference proceedings.

There will be one Best Paper award, to be awarded to the best accepted paper at the YRS. Providing student travel grants to support the participation of authors of accepted papers is under consideration.

Following the plagiarism policy of the CODS-COMAD conference, all submitted papers will be checked for plagiarism, and plagiarised papers will be rejected without review. The submission should not exceed four pages (including all images, tables and references) using ACM "sigconf" proceedings template available at https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. The submission should mention name and affiliation of all author(s), status of first author (Undergraduate / Postgraduate / Doctoral / Postdoctoral), and contact email address.
